Workshop ‘On-line Biomonitoring’, organised by Kiwa Water Research
Incombination with several Dutch Water Companies and RIZA
Date: February 16-17, 2004, in Nieuwegein, The Netherlands.
The main goals of this workshop are:
- to establish an overview of monitoring ambitions, to identify the legal basis for biomonitoring according to the European Drinking Water Directive and Water Framework Directive, and to gain more insight in the methods for standardisation of results;
- to present an overview of the current (technological) (im)possibilities that biomonitoring offers to fulfill these needs.
In the afternoon session on monday the 16th a visit to the intake monitoring station of Het Waterlaboratorium (Water Works Amsterdam) is planned. At this monitoring station you can see the 4 different biomonitors: the TOXcontrol (using luminescent bacteria), a fish-, a dahpnia and an algae monitor.
